Slip Resistance

The HSE and contractors measure public spaces slip resistance by pendulum test values (PTV), a wet floor PTV requirement should meet a minimum value of 36+ PTV.

Slip Potential PTV
high 0-24
moderate 25-35
low 36+

This is measured using BS7976 Pendulum testing. CREID convey site surveys on contemporary floor finishes which clients wish to preserve, bringing the PTV value compliant to HSE standards. In the case of polished concrete floors without any measurements put in place, they will achieve circ 26 PTV (wet).

Private residences PTV values are at the homeowners’ discretion. However, in spaces open to the public this leaves the owner of the building liable in the event someone suffers a slip causing injury. If you are uncertain or would like to book a survey please contact us for more details.
